Project
A ten storey hotel development with a retail unit and cafe/bar on the ground and first floor.

Challenges
Although the project was generally a code compliant design, we were able to devise a bespoke fire engineering strategy to deliver cost savings to our client.

Solutions
Innovation Fire Engineering reduced the over-specification throughout the hotel, enabling the removal of a number of unnecessary cross-corridor door sets and a final exit. In addition, we optimised the fire resistance of doors and walls on the ground and first floor, whilst still ensuring fire safety.

Innovation Fire Engineering designed an ‘L5’ fire engineered fire alarm system and specified strategic fire resistance at ground floor to provide the hotel and retail unit with independent evacuation in the event of a fire. This significantly reduced the potential for disruption to hotel occupants and retail customers in the event of false alarms within the other part of the development.
