The Rutland Development site was an existing prison complex containing 38 buildings, including living accommodation and work quarters; 25 of which were being refurbished to provide multiple use buildings which could be rented out to businesses.
Fire service access, external fire spread, fire resistance requirements and fire detection and alarm systems.
Innovation Fire Engineering provided a report for each of the 25 buildings covering the maximum occupancy, fire alarm, means of escape, compartmentation, external fire spread and access and facilities for the fire service. The fire safety duties of the responsible person were also included to assist the client and those who would be renting the units at a later time.
Providing a separate short report for each building, rather than a report for the site as a whole, enabled the client to manage the refurbishment of each unit more easily.
