Apollo Cinema, Rhyl

The proposal was to extend and refurbish the existing Apollo Cinema in Rhyl consisting of a new bar extension, additional terraced areas for seating and a new entrance foyer. The project was progressing well until questions were raised concerning the means of escape from the projection room.

Innovation Fire Engineering were asked to assess the building layout and consider whether the means of escape from the projection room was acceptable and if not, what alterations were required to provide adequate means of escape from this area.

Innovation Fire Engineering identified the areas which would require automatic smoke detection and 30 minutes fire resistance in order to assure adequate means of escape from the projection room wherever the location of a fire.

The solution was accepted by the approving authority and work on the cinema could be completed.

Innovation Fire Engineering stepped in to solve a last minute issue on an almost competed project to enable the building to be completed on time.
